About This Spot

Stepping into Römer Pils Brunnen feels like entering a well-loved corner of Frankfurt where tradition and conviviality come naturally. Nestled along Töngesgasse, the atmosphere hums with the steady rhythm of locals and travelers sharing hearty meals and well-poured pints. There’s an ease here—unpretentious and warm—that invites you to slow down and settle in, whether you’re drawn to the comfy tables or the lively bar where last-minute patrons often find a spot.

The pace is unhurried yet vibrant, a place where the clinking of glasses and soft murmur of conversation create a backdrop perfect for lingering evenings. This is a gathering spot that transcends the usual dining experience; it’s about savoring moments with good company and authentic flavors that echo the heart of German cuisine.

The kitchen’s offerings reflect both comfort and care, celebrating classic dishes like pork knuckle with its satisfyingly crisp skin and tender meat that seems to effortlessly fall apart alongside tangy sauerkraut. The schnitzel arrives generously portioned, embodying that satisfying balance of crunch and juiciness that makes it a local favorite. Fresh salads provide a lively counterpoint—a seasonal burst of lightness that complements the richer specialties.

What makes Römer Pils Brunnen feel truly special is its blend of down-to-earth service and a sense of place. Despite the popularity, the team maintains a welcoming presence, attentive without rushing, making sure every meal feels like a shared experience rather than just a transaction. Patrons often find themselves returning, drawn back not just by the food but by the genuine atmosphere that flutters between tradition and friendship.

In a city full of modern edges and fast paces, Römer Pils Brunnen offers a quietly reassuring anchor—a spot where you can embrace the simple joy of well-made dishes, local brews, and the warm murmur of convivial conversation.

This restaurant came highly recommended by a friend who had visited Frankfurt. It was so good we ate here multiple times during our visit. Great service and really delicious food! Make a reservation if you don’t want to sit at the bar.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals here. Even at 6pm on a Saturday, we managed to squeeze right in and get sat at a table. Service was quick, and our food came out shortly. My schnitzel was huge and delicious, as was my wife's pork knuckle. You get your money's worth here!

we just walked into the shop without reservation and we are only allowed to sit for 2 hours but it’s already more than enough. We ordered 1 Schweinhace and 1 duck breast on the specialties menu and it was so good. The portion is more than enough for 2 ladies We had food comma after the meal. The Schweinhaxe is one of the best one that i have eaten and i already ate it multiple times in München, Prag and even Strassbourg. It‘s very juicy, well-seasoned and not salty at all, with the Sauerkrauter on the side. Here the Schweinhaxe is eaten with mustard/senf, not the brown sauce. I was so in love with the duck breast since it‘s very balanced and the mashed potato is not salty at all, with the phenominal sauce. The duck breast is medium-rare. The restaurant deserves a 5 star from me and my friend. I also saw a lot of asian customers. The staffs are quick and explained everything thoroughly.

Best crispy pork knuckle I have ever eat since I know this German cuisine. Not only crispy, the meat is so tender to the extent that you can tear it down into strips with sour cabbage. I am so blessed to eat at this place before flying off. The previous restaurants I have tried on this dish are almost the same except this one. Remember this place when you are in Frankfurt. Don’t miss it. Make reservation for lunch and dinner.

Love it. Back after 6 years to again celebrate our wedding anniversary. Wife and I ordered roasted pork knuckle, Vienna schnitzel, couple of beers. Remember to get the famous “green sauce” of Frankfurt.

The food was amazing, authentic, flavorful, and served in very generous portions. The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and they made room for us right away. We received outstanding service throughout our visit. Highly recommend!

We stopped by Römer Pils Brunnen in Frankfurt and were lucky enough to get the last walk-in seats just before the dinner rush started. The service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was lively in the best way. We ordered the infamous pork knuckle with sauerkraut cabbage to share, and it was absolutely amazing — perfectly crunchy, crispy, and full of flavour. Truly one of the best pork knuckles we’ve ever had. We also tried the Carolus Der Starke beer, which completely surprised me. It had such a rich, chocolatey, fruity, almost cherry-like taste. I’m not usually a beer person, but this was honestly amazing. Definitely recommend this spot for anyone visiting Frankfurt and looking for authentic food, great beer, and a memorable experience.

We were very lucky to get a table on early Saturday evening, the restaurant is full, just walked in the right time, and also the help from the lovely staff. Lovely beer. Definitely you have to try German beer. The potion of famous German Roasted Pork Knuckle is massive, it’s bigger than you imagine. So if it’s just two of you, one Pork Knuckle and one starter is plenty. Our eyes are bigger than the tummy. Because it was our last night in a Frankfurt, and we have decided to ordere one stater to share(very wisely), and one German Roasted Pork Knuckle and one Schnitzel(a little bit greedy), then we have ended up with leaving nearly half of the roasted Pork Knuckle behind. So please think about it carefully before you make your order. The food is very good, just think about how much you want to order. The staff is very friendly and they speak good English.
